Hi no battery needed and will come with everything needed yet ya might be able to use ur set up if ya'd like to mess with it.

Is there any infomation available for this product I could review? I'd like to know what's involved for the installation. I need to know how much refitting the bike would need.

Yes, RPM, Speed, Radiator Temp, total use as well as a re-settable distance recording. Works off a magnet so nothing special other than a mount on the lower fork lug area for the two magnets to pic up.
